The 2016-2017 NFL season is soon coming to an end, with many teams trying to take the champion title of Super Bowl LI. Eight of the thirty-two teams have already secured their spot in the playoffs while another fourteen try to succeed in reaching the last four spots. Here is a chart showing the positions each team holds:

AFC                                                                                                                                        NFC

Division Leaders:                                                                                                 Division Leaders:

  • New England Patriots                                                                                                    Dallas Cowboys
  • Oakland Raiders                                                                                                             Seattle Seahawks
  •                Pittsburgh Steelers                                                                                                        Atlanta Falcons            Houston Texans                                                                                                             Detroit Lions

                     Wild Card:                                                                                                                Wild Card:

  •          Kansas City Chiefs                                                                                                        New York Giants
  •          Miami Dolphins                                                                                                          Green Bay Packers

In the Hunt:                                                                                                               In the Hunt:

  •                    Baltimore Ravens                                                                                        Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  •                    Tennessee Titans                                                                                           Washington Redskins
  •                   Denver Broncos                                                                                               Minnesota Vikings
  •                   Indianapolis Colts                                                                                           New Orleans Saints
  •                   Buffalo Bills                                                                                                      Carolina Panthers

               Eliminated:                                                                                                           Eliminated:

  •            Cincinnati Bengals                                                                                                          Arizona Cardinals
  •             San Diego Chargers                                                                                                        Philadelphia Eagles
  •             New York Jets                                                                                                                  St. Lous Rams
  •            Jacksonville Jaguars                                                                                                      Chicago Bears
  •            Cleveland Browns                                                                                                            San Fransisco 49ers

The division leaders of both the NFC and AFC have a safe spot within the playoffs. The teams for the wild card are the two highest scoring teams of  division but their names for the playoffs aren’t set in stone. The teams in the hunt could possibly steal the wild card position from another depending on the winnings and losses of the next series of games. Those teams eliminated are have a great amount of losses throughout the whole season and therefore will not be able to play for the championship. However, while playing against the other “alive” teams, they could have a possibility of ruining the high amounts of wins for the team played against. This would decrease the chance of the opponent’s spot in the playoffs and definitely the Super Bowl.
