EF Academy’s volleyball players are not strangers to T-D’s Lions. In fact, T-D played and lost against the team during their last volleyball season in the fall of 2015. However, this year, after weeks of practice, hard work, and winning numerous games prior, the Lions put in their best work.

It was a two part showdown. During the first match, the nerves were there and the pressure was on. T-D’s Lions played decently but, sadly, this was not enough to beat EF, the #1 team in the league. In spite of this, when the Lions came back for the second and final match, they played hard. Like the previous match, the teams played best of 5 sets. Each set was closely tied. T-D came back so strong that EF Academy was stunned. The game was tense, with T-D’s players bumping deep serves, setting high sets, and flying across the court making impressive saves. Each volley had the crowd uneasy and anxious, waiting to see which team would lose the ball first. The crowd would roar and cheer then suddenly grow silent as the next player served the ball.

EF won the first and second set, assuming they could easily beat T-D again. However, without warning, during the third set, the Lions came back roaring. After crushing EF during this set, they proceeded to do it again during the fourth set, knocking everyone off their feet. Finally it came down to the final set, the one that would decide the winner of the match. It was the most nerve-wracking and tense set of all. Each team stopping at nothing to save the ball and continue the volley.  Unfortunately after an intense battle, at a score of 13-14, EF pulled through in the last minute with one last point. After an intense battle, EF Academy won against T-D’s Lions with a score of 13-15.

In spite of the loss, T-D’s Lions went home celebrating. They celebrated the fact that they played their best game, pushed themselves to their limit and kept the wholesome T-D spirit alive. The Lions know and believe that at the next game they will prevail.
