Finally, after a long winter, it is time to shift your closet to spring clothing. Shifting to spring can be quite difficult for some because they prefer to dress only for the fall, but – no fear – we are about to break down the best ways to spring into a wardrobe suitable for warmer weather.

Winter is the time for layers, but, once spring comes, it is time to shed the layers. Scarves, sweaters, hats, leather and velvet are all staples of winter. You have no need for any of those in the spring. There are some colors, like black and burgundy, you should also avoid in the springtime. Blue, pink, red, yellow and white are all staples for the spring.

Although most winter trends, such as leather jackets should go to the back of your closet, there are some that can evolve into trends suitable for spring. Stripes, Khaki, and chokers are all trends that can move into the spring. Pink and yellow are the top color choices for spring.

Although they are a nice compliment for spring, some people would rather not wear super-bright colors. Don’t feel like just because you do not want to wear a bright color head-to-toe that you can’t add a small pop of color to your outfit of the day. Blue, green and red are perfect colors to insert into any outfit.

Quick tip: Your shoes can work as a pop of color, too. Just pick one article of clothing to pair with your otherwise dark outfit.

In early March, it is still a little chilly out, so adding a bomber jacket for a pop of color is a great way to shift into spring. One outfit idea is a green bomber jacket with black jeans, black shoes and a white t-shirt.  For mid-March, you can start to keep it light. One idea is to pair blue or white sneakers with a monochromatic grey outfit. To keep it weather-appropriate, in late March I suggest wearing a white t-shirt and white sneakers and pair it with blue jeans for simplicity.

Finally, in early April is when it is warmer out. Florals are great patterns. Since April brings a lot of rain, you can wear something similar to a pink rain jacket with blue jeans and white sneakers.

While some styles stay in trend during both seasons, it is good to refresh your closet by adding color and getting rid of some layers.
